SCOPE

The 2012 International Semiconductor Conference (CAS 2012) – former Annual Semiconductor Conference – is now at its 35th annual sequence and 22st edition with International participation. The aim of the conference is two–fold. First of all, it provides a forum of debate on selected topics for scientific research and technological development. Secondly, it is an occasion for the participants to broad their perspective through invited papers and tutorials.

TOPICS: Contributions in solid-state devices and (sub)systems are called in the following domains.
- Simulation and fabrication of microstructures and microsystems:
surface and bulk micromachining, microengineering techniques, electro-opto-mechanical microsystems, microsensor and actuator integration, signal processing, computational intelligence and system interfacing, biosensors and microsystems for biomedical application; optical, opto-electronic and photonic functional components, RF MEMS;
- Science and technology of nanostructures and nanostructured materials:

composite nanoparticles and nanostructures with selective properties, nanostructures and nanostructured materials with special properties, nanotechnologies and nanostructure;
- Semiconductor device physics and technology:

device modelling and simulation, silicon and compound semiconductor devices, heterostructures, advanced materials and processes, reliability and defect engineering;
- Design and technology of microelectronic components:
microelectronic, microphotonic and microwave integrated subsystems, devices and modules for power control and conversion, specialized electronic circuits integrated in the microelectronic technology, testing and reliability;

HIGHLIGHTS:
- Nanoscience and nanoengineering
- Microoptics and microphotonics
- Micromachined devices and circuits for microwave and millimeter wave applications
- Micro and nanotechnologies for transducers, interfaces and microsystems
- Micro and nanotechnologies for biomedical and environmental applications
- Novel materials and intelligent materials
- Power devices and microelectronics (including CAD)

CAS 2012 PROCEEDINGS: The contributed and invited papers will be published in the CAS 2012 Proceedings (an IEEE publication), which will be delivered to the participants at the beginning of the conference. The authors of the accepted papers must sign an IEEE Copyright Form (for printing the paper in the Proceedings). The papers submitted to CAS must be original and never published before. By the IEEE Copyright form, the authors will transfer the copyright to IEEE.

CAS 2012 PROGRAM consists in contributed (oral or poster sessions) and invited papers. In oral sessions authors may use standard slides in PowerPoint presentations. The presentation should not exceed 20 minutes (contributed papers), respectively 30 minutes (invited papers), discussion included. The recommended format for posters is A0. The organizers may deliver the A0 size colour posters by request, for an additional charge of 60 EUR/poster and upon receiving the electronic file of the poster at the e-mail address: print@imt.ro

The CAS program includes a Student Paper Session. The best paper will be awarded by EDS Chapter. To be eligible, the paper must be based on the student's own work. The author should mention on the registration form their option to be registered in this session.

PAPER TO BE SUBMITTED: Contributed papers will be selected on the basis of a four pages paper, structured and printed according to the IEEE format (4 pages A4, two columns, including a 50 words summary, figures and references). The authors should send the file of the paper by e–mail (or on a diskette), in Microsoft Word format.The papers will be printed by direct reproduction (photo-offset). The authors should edit the papers, in very good contrast conditions ("Times New Roman" type font, 11pt. size are recommended), on A4 size bond paper, with 2.5 cm top, left and right margins and 3.5 cm bottom margin. For details, the authors should consult "CAS Guidelines for papers NEW!! " on the INTERNET web page of the conference.

INVITED PAPERS: The invited papers (10 pages A4, two columns, including a 50 words summary, figures and references) will be printed in the format given for the contributed papers. The invited speakers should send the file of the paper by e-mail.

GENERAL INFORMATION OFFICIAL LANGUAGE: All materials and oral presentations should be in English.

LOCATION - CAS 2012: will be held from 15-17 of October in Sinaia – "the Pearl of Carpathian Mountains".
Sinaia is a beautiful mountain resort, located at about 125km (by car or by train) from Bucharest. The weather in Sinaia is mild and sunny in October, the average temperature being about 15oC.
The participants are offered the opportunity to visit the splendid Swiss–like town, with its famous Peles Castle and the Casino, and also to make trips in the mountains or to the Bran (Dracula’s) Castle.
NEW!
Open for visits: Cantacuzino Castle, situated in the district of Zamora, town of Busteni.

REGISTRATION FORM: The participants must register in advance and make reservations for their accommodation by sending the Registration Form to the CAS Office, by mail or by fax.
