Prof. Klas Hjort

Prof. Klas Hjort has a strong track-record on micro- and nanotechnologies for expanding printed circuit board technology to microfluidic systems for, e.g., biomedical analysis, medical sampling and sample preparation, microhydraulic actuation, and wireless wearable stretchable electronics. He received the M.Sc. degree in engineering physics and the Ph.D. degree in materials science from Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden, in 1988 and 1993, respectively. In 2008, he became a Professor of microsystems technology (MST) at Uppsala University, where he is Head of Division.
Prof. Hjort has published more than 130 scientific journal articles and is inventor in several patents. Google Scholar presents more than 4,000 citations and an h-index of 33. In 2010 he was the recipient of a FiDiPro Professorship from the Finnish Distinguished Professorship Program, which he held for three years. As a member of MEMSWAVE, he was awarded as one of the finalists for the Descartes Prize 2002 of the Commission of the European Union. He is Guest Professor of the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
