Abstract.
Monoidals
are computationally universal formalisms where a great quantity of other formalisms can be easily represented. Many symbolic systems from different areas are expressed as monoidals. The possibility is outlined that these systems express localization aspects typical of membrane systems and other phenomena such as temporality and multiplicity that are essential in the formalization of molecule manipulation systems.
