Improving Sliding Mode Control for Boost Preregulator

Abstract.
In this paper, a new method for the control of the Boost preregulator is analyzed and improved: sliding mode control. First, the behavior of Boost converter working as preregulator with unity power factor is remembered. The proposed method is theoretically analyzed using state variable method. The equation for sliding surface is written and it is shown that for the both states of the switch the inequalities required by this method are satisfied. Then, a possible practical implementation with a delay circuit RC and a comparator is presented. A PSpice simulation and some relevant results are presented. Some conclusions appear at the end of the paper.
