The 4M Workshop “ Micro and nanotechnologies and Multifunctional Materials for Life quality and Industry applications" took place at Sinaia, Romania, on 30 September, 2005 and have been organised by IMT Bucharest with support of 4M Network Management team. The workshop had the main goals to disseminate and exploit the research results and to promote a better response of the research activities to the socio - economic needs in Eastern Europe. The event was devoted to Microfabrication techniques and Multifunctional materials applications in the industry area and the quality of life with the following topics:
Eight invited papers and six regular papers were presented and 44 participants from academia, research and industry from 8 Eastern and Western countries attended the workshop. The invited papers * were bringing the latest scientific information in the workshop thematic area and new information on other projects or initiatives supported by the European Commission, in close connection with 4M area. The last part of the workshop was dedicated to the poster session, organized with contributions from Eastern countries (most of them from Romania) having the role to allow more discussions on the capabilities and interest of Eastern organizations in 4M thematic areas. The poster session time was bringing new ideas of cooperation between Eastern and Western participants. *The invited papers presented:
The workshop was a very successful event bringing together people form research and industry, from Eastern and Western countries, becoming a real forum for the exchange and dissemination of information and creating the opportunity to meet people and to initiate new RTD projects. A gala dinner was organized on Friday evening at the “ Foisor Castle” Sinaia, a beautiful historical place. On the web site www.imt.ro/4M_workshop all new and updated information related to: Workshop programme, Workshop sessions, location and hotel accommodation was presented. The same information was transmitted by e-mail to all participants. |
