EEA Grants project coordinated by Romania receives prestigious award

The EEA RO-NO project ARMIN (Arm neuroprosthesis equipped with artificial skin and sensorial feedback), run by important Romanian R&D players was awarded with two Dieter Bergman IPC Fellowship Award scholarships, for two of the students involved in the project. ARMIN aims to develop a personalised arm neuroprosthesis, equipped with artificial skin and sensorial feedback for patients with partially amputated superior limbs, providing the unique capability of bidirectional connect the prosthesis with the peripheral nervous system from the patient stump. The neuroprosthesis’ fabrication technology will include developing 3D printing mechatronic structure, bioprinting of neuronal interfaces and advanced hardware and software robotics modules for neuroprosthesis based arm.

The project, financed through the Norway Grants and the EEA Grants, is coordinated by “Politehnica” University of Bucharest and has important contributions from the Romanian (IMT-Bucharest, Areus Technologies, Emergency Clinical Hospital Bucharest and the Academy of Medical Sciences) and Norwegian (University of South-Eastern Norway) R&D partners.

The Dieter Bergman IPC Fellowship Award is given to individuals who have fostered a collaborative spirit, made significant contributions to standards development, and have consistently demonstrated a commitment to global standardization efforts and the electronics industry. IPC is the global association that helps OEMs, EMS, PCB manufacturers and suppliers build electronics better, through industry standards, training, industry intelligence and public policy advocacy. More than 3,000 companies around the world depend on IPC programs and services to further their competitive advantage and financial success.
