  • Completing the laboratory technology for the achievement of the micro-optical concentrator and
  • Performance evaluation of the system in the laboratory conditions.

Work plan of the project
WP1 Simulations for defining the architecture of a solar concentration system based on arrays of micro-optical elements

In this work package the following activities will be carried out:

  • Simulations regarding the propagation of radiation through the micro-lenses based on the characteristics of the material, dimensions and configuration.
  • Simulations on the reflection of radiation through the micro mirrors according to the characteristics of the material, dimensions, configuration.
  • Simulations about the concentration of the radiation through the ensemble of micro lens array, micro mirrors and plate guide.

WP2 Masks design and fabrication for microoptics arrays

The first part of this work package is Design of lay-out for micro-lens array. It will project two work masks for the array of micro-lenses with two topographies.
The second part of the work is Design of lay-out for micro-mirrors array. It will be projected also two masks for the array of micro-mirrors having two topographies which correspond to those of the lenses.
The third part of this work is Fabrication of masks for micro-lens and micro-mirrors arrays. The two sets of masks for the arrays of micro-lenses and micro mirrors, designed with the specialized software will be fabricated on the equipment which exits in IMT.

WP3 Technological processes

The main objective is the development of technological processes for the individual achievement of the micro- lenses, of the micro-mirrors and their connection with an optical guide having the role of guiding the concentrated radiation. The individual processes will constitute the technology for achieving a concentrator based on the array of the micro-optical elements.

WP4 Characterizations

The main objective of WP4 is the characterization of the technology developed in the frame work of the project, through the evaluation of the sub-assemblies of micro-optics elements and the micro-optical concentrator carried out.

WP5 Dissemination and/or exploitation of project results

This work package is devoted to exploit the innovation potentials of this research project, and to disseminate the project and results. The overall goal is to translate the scientific knowledge and space technology produced by this research project into space products and services, to find the niches in space industry and aeronautics.

WP6 Management of the project

The objective(s) of this work package is to ensure that the project meets its objectives within budget and scheduled time scales.
