The Nanocarbon+ project is focused on the exploitation of the specific properties of a given class of carbon-based nanomaterial, i.e. nanostructured graphene, for the development of sensors and intelligent materials. There are several specific domains and applications which the project is targeting: are targeted: green energy, the detection of pollutants and environmental decontamination, and monitoring of structural integrity.  Nanocarbon+ is coordinated by the National Institute for R&D for Microtechnologies (IMT Bucharest) and consists of four different component projects:

1. P1 – Piezoresistive effects in nanocrystalline carbonic thin films; development of mechanical strain gauges.
2. P2 – Oxidic nanocomposites using nanocarbon based materials for the development of lasers and photovoltaic systems.
3. P3 – Carbon based nanostructured materials for the development of sensors for gas and polycycle aromatic hydrocarbons monitoring
4. P4 – Photocatalytic composite coatings based on metallic oxides and nanocarbon based materials for the development of environmental technologies (self-cleaning and organic pollutants treatment)
