¤ Project objectives:
The main specific objective is to increase the Romanian participation in a field of human great interest as space research and in particular to be part of the research and development teams in ESA projects.
Scientific / Technological objectives subsume development of precise optical alignment systems for the applications defined above – demonstrating their viability and to fulfill requirements asked for work in space:
- Objective 1: Optical alignment system (OAS) model design, design for reliability
- Objective 2: OAS mechanical and thermal simulation
- Objective 3: OAS driving electronics models. Selection of 2 test vehicle
- Objective 4: OAS packaging design
- Objective 5: OAS demonstrator model (DM) manufacturing (selection of components for space condition, manufacturing technologies, optical and electrical characterization, metrology)
- Objective 6: OAS QA tests, reliability tests design and experimental model (EM) test programme
- Objective 7: OAS experimental models (2 types) functional characterization in laboratory conditions (TRL 4)
Implementation and sustainability objectives:
- Objective 8: One of the priorities of the project is to agglutinate an interdisciplinary team specialized in OAS in order to further development of specific technologies (for instance hybrid integrated systems) and to ensure the sustainability of the team after the end of the project.
- Objective 9: Promotion/dissemination objectives consist of: scientific papers, patents, dissemination in the scientific environment through workshop, e-newsletter of the project. Educational aspects: courses in Optical Systems for Space and "hands on" training for post-doc researcher and students
- Objective 10: To participate in research projects (ROSA, ESA, H2020) and to attract founds for infrastructure projects in order to make possible testing the experimental model in condition simulating function in relevant functional (in order to permit the TRL 5)
