RESEARCH AREAS

NANOMEDICINE

The focus in nanomedicine is the study, design and fabrication of nanoscale structures and devices for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.

Medical nanostructures include: implantable silicon based integrated drug delivery microdevices (DESIRE project), in-situ nanodevices for drug delivery like Si based carriers; Au nanoparticles for selected cell destruction (e.g., hyperthermia in cancer treatment), imaging and diagnostic;

The diagnosis area is represented by: development of DNA and protein biochips, specifically designed for microarray technology or optoelectronic biodetection; laboratory on cell chips for DNA amplification and separation (link brevet); micro and nano – electrodes for recording electrophysiological signals of neuronal network at multiple points simultaneously.
