Academic biography
Angela Baracu is a Scientific Researcher (Grade A) in the Nano-Scale Structuring and Characterization Laboratory at the National Institute for Research and Development in Microtechnologies- IMT Bucharest. Angela studied Electronics and later completed a PhD in Electronics and Telecommunications in 2018 at Politehnica University of Bucharest (UPB), Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology. In 2013, Angela joined the IMT Bucharest as a Research Assistant in microsystems, and since 2024, she has been a Scientific Researcher Grade A in Materials Science and Engineering. Angela’s research focuses on advanced sensor technologies for environmental monitoring, with a special interest in photonic sensors, surface acoustic wave devices, and MEMS development using emerging fabrication techniques and novel materials. |
Research interests
Analytical methods development using sensor technologies for precision and versatility in sensing across emerging contaminants, alongside the design and synthesis of novel materials to enhance sensor performance.
Our active research projects focus on the development of sensor technologies and their system integration, enhanced by intelligent data processing for multiplexed monitoring and sensing. The aim is to improve efficiency, performance, and reliability while reducing size, power consumption, and manufacturing costs. Other active project areas on optical metasurfaces. |
