Dr. Habil. Silviu Polosan



Silviu Polosan was born in Blaj, Romania, on January 3, 1968. He received the graduation degree from the I. Muresianu, Math-Physics High School, Blaj, in 1986, Faculty of Physics, Bucharest-Romania, Magurele, Romania, in 1993, and the PhD degree from the Faculty of Physics, Bucharest-Romania, from 1997 to 2002.
He was a Research Assistant in the Optics and Spectroscopy Department at the National Institute of Materials Physics in Magurele, Romania, in 1993. Visiting Professor to University Roma Tre, Italy (1-month 2004), ENEA Frascati fellowship (3 months, 2004-2005) and Post Doctoral fellowship granted by Japan Society for Promotion of Science between 2005 and 2007.
During 2011-2024, he taught the course "Optical Spectroscopy" in the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Physics at the University of Bucharest and supervised three doctoral theses.
Since 2015, he has been a Senior Researcher I (Professor) at the National Institute of Materials Physics, Nanostructures and Multifunctional Materials, serving as the Department's Chief.
He is the coauthor of more than 100 scientific papers with an h-index of 18, gathering more than 1087 citations (WoS databases).
His research interests include organic light-emitting diodes, semiconductors, glass-ceramic oxides, and metallic thin films for electrode applications. In the last years, he was involved with the research team in more than 20 Research projects (as principal investigator PI in 16 National and in 1 International project). Since 2023, he has been elected as an Associate Member of the Romanian Academy of Scientists and, from 2026, a PhD supervisor at the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Physics.
