100 years of quantum mechanics: the quantum electronics revolution
The discovery of quantum mechanics 100 years ago, has completely changed our understanding about the world. We cannot think today neither the solid-state physics nor its main materials such as metals, the semiconductors or insulators and the electron devices based on them such as diodes or transistors without quantum mechanics. We present and overview of the last results of the application of quantum mechanics in the area of quantum devices. The majority of quantum devices are working at room temperature such as lasers, tunneling electronic devices and many others which were discovered after the main discovery of the atomically thin materials 20 years ago.. Our talk will review the theoretical and experimental work of quantum devices at room temperature regarding ballistic devices, tunneling, quantum gates, Bloch and the fully control of the Mott transitions, i.e the opening or closing the gap in certain materials named Mott materials.
