Exploring the Power of Edge AI for Societal Good, Engineering Inspired by Life
Advances in semiconductors underpin sensing, actuation, computing and wireless connectivity, enabling applications that have a great societal impact. Artificial Intelligence is playing an increasing role in these applications by capturing complex interactions and dynamics and influencing architectures from the system level down to the device level. All of these are being encapsulated in the technologies of smart edge devices. This presentation will review some applications empowered by the smart edge technology and the emergence of AI, ranging from biomedical applications(neurology and physiology of the brain and the heart), to apiculture, environmental monitoring and even security. It will also review some case studies on the interaction between biological systems(including humans) and embedded systems enabled by AI to achieve unmatched performance.
